Microsoft stops sending texted sign-in codes for Microsoft 365 work accounts on 1 February 2027 (Global Administrators: 1 July 2027).
If anyone at your firm signs in only with a texted or phoned code, Microsoft's own page says that after their retirement date they are asked to register a passkey at sign-in, and the prompt blocks them until they do. We write your whole switch, by email, for US$249, nothing added.

What Microsoft says
- "From February 1, 2027, Microsoft-provided telephony delivery for SMS and voice will be retired for all users except Global Administrators and external users." For Global Administrators and external users the date is July 1, 2027.
- After the date, users "whose only available MFA method is SMS or voice are required to register a passkey during sign-in". Microsoft's page calls the prompt blocking and says there is no opt out from that behaviour.
- Microsoft's FAQ says migrating Microsoft-provided SMS and voice users to passkeys "incur no additional cost".
Source: Microsoft Learn, Passkeys by default and retirement of Microsoft-provided SMS and voice authentication and its FAQ, both read 2026-10-14 (page dated 2026-09-23). Keeping texted codes after the date means contracting a telephony provider through Microsoft Security Store, per the same pages.

How ordering works
- Reply to our email, or write to [email protected].
- We send a short 6-question form. Once you've answered, we send a card payment link (Stripe).
- Work starts after payment. The pack arrives by email within 2 business days.
Everything is by email. We do not take calls.
What we don't do
- We never log in to your Microsoft 365 tenant and never ask for a password or a sign-in code. You do the clicking; we write the steps. If you send a password anyway, we delete it and tell you.
- Microsoft controls sign-in; we describe the steps. We make no promise about how your staff's sign-in will behave on or after the date.
- Microsoft's own fix is free, and Microsoft already nudges users to register passkeys. What you pay for is the writing and planning, done for your people by name.
- This is IT how-to writing, not legal or compliance advice.
Refunds
A full refund on request within 14 days of purchase if the work has not been delivered, or if you tell us it did not meet the offer. Ask at [email protected]. Details in the terms.
